Here’s what it means for our customers, our partners, and the healthcare organizations we serve.
We’re proud to share that Ryde Central recently completed its SOC 2® examination and has received its SOC 2® report.
If you’ve been through a vendor security review or worked in healthcare compliance, you know what that means. If you haven’t, we’ll walk you through it, because it matters for anyone who trusts Ryde Central with patient transportation data.
What Is a SOC 2® Examination?
SOC stands for System and Organization Controls. A SOC 2® examination is an independent audit conducted by a licensed CPA firm and governed by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). The examination evaluates whether an organization’s controls related to security, availability, confidentiality, and operational integrity are designed appropriately and functioning effectively.
One important clarification: a SOC 2® examination is not a certification. It’s an independent examination resulting in a formal report, which is actually more meaningful. A report means an auditor looked at our actual controls, tested them, and documented their findings — a higher bar than a checkbox.
Why This Matters for Healthcare
Ryde Central operates at the intersection of patient care and data: coordinating transport requests, pulling patient information from EHR systems, generating medical necessity forms, and keeping health facilities and transport providers in sync in real time. The sensitivity of that data demands rigorous controls.
Our SOC 2® report supports the healthcare organizations we serve in three concrete ways:
- Security reviews and vendor assessments. When a hospital or health system needs to evaluate Ryde Central as a vendor, our SOC 2® report provides documented, independent evidence of our controls, not just our word for it.
- Contracting and procurement. Many health systems and state agencies require vendors to demonstrate security controls before executing contracts. Our SOC 2® report helps streamline that process.
- Ongoing trust. We maintain a current SOC 2® report in compliance with AICPA requirements, which means this isn’t a one-time event; it’s part of how we operate.
Our Commitment Going Forward
Completing this examination reflects something we have always believed: the healthcare organizations that rely on Ryde Central deserve to know their data is protected. Transparency and accountability aren’t just values; they’re operational requirements in the work we do.
